Mande MW16 OutdoorThermoWood Sauna - 4 Person
Crafted for the long term
The MW16 is a spacious, four-person outdoor sauna expertly crafted in Lithuania from premium Scandinavian ThermoWood® — a material prized for its durability and timeless natural aesthetic. At just over 5 feet deep, it strikes the perfect balance between a generous interior and a compact footprint, making it ideal for couples, small families, or friends who want a private wellness retreat without sacrificing energy efficiency.
More Room, More Comfort
Tempered glass doors and windows flood the interior with natural light, while LED lighting under the benches adds a touch of modern luxury. The bituminous tile roof provides reliable weather protection for year-round enjoyment, and a Harvia 8.0kW electric heater is recommended for optimal performance.
The MW16 can also be installed indoors in a dedicated space with proper ventilation and suitable flooring — however, indoor use requires an electric heater only.

Frequently asked questions
When will I know my order has shipped?
As soon as you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation e-mail. This means that we have received your order in our system and pre-authorized your credit card for the purchase. As soon as we receive your order, we automatically reach out to our suppliers to confirm that it is in stock and available for immediate shipment. If your item is on backorder or unavailable, we will void the pre-authorization and reach out to you via e-mail. If your item(s) are available for immediate shipment (within 5 business days), we will process the charges and submit the order for shipment. If, for some reason, there is a delay in stock, we will contact you before accepting payment.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery time is typically 7–14 days within the U.S. mainland for the MW series held in stock. Custom-built saunas take around 8–12 weeks from order confirmation. Your dealer will confirm a precise lead time at the time of purchase.
Does installation require a professional?
Mande Spa USA saunas are delivered pre-assembled in panels for straightforward installation. While many customers self-install following our detailed guide, we recommend professional installation for outdoor models and any electrical work.
What electrical requirements are needed?
Electric heater models typically require a dedicated 240V / 40–60A circuit, depending on heater size. A licensed electrician must install the electrical supply before the sauna is operational. Your dealer will advise on the exact requirements for your chosen model.
Can a sauna be installed in a bathroom or basement?
Yes. Many of our indoor models are designed for basement, garage, or bathroom installation. Proper ventilation and a waterproof floor are essential. Our installation guide covers all scenarios in detail.
What maintenance does a sauna require?
Saunas require very little maintenance. We recommend lightly oiling the exterior wood once a year to protect it from the elements, replacing the heater stones once a year, and cleaning the interior with a mild sauna cleaner. Bench surfaces can also be lightly sanded if needed.
What wood types are used in your saunas?
We use premium Thermowood® (heat-treated pine) and Nordic spruce. Thermowood® is naturally resistant to moisture, warping, rot and fungus, making it ideal for high-humidity sauna environments. All wood is sustainably sourced and kiln-dried.
Are your saunas suitable for outdoor use?
All Mande Spa USA saunas are built as outdoor saunas. Some models can also be installed indoors, provided the space has proper ventilation, suitable flooring and an electric heater.
Do your saunas come with a heater included?
You can choose your heater — electric or wood-fired — or you can buy the sauna without one. That's entirely up to you.

The Top Sauna Questions Answered for You
Traditional (Finnish) Saunas: Typically operate between 150°F and 190°F (65--88°C), with a median standard between 165--180°F.
Infrared Saunas: Operate at lower, radiant heat temperatures, generally between 120°F and 150°F.
Beginners: Start with 10 to 15 minutes per session.
Advanced: You can stay longer (up to 20 minutes), but it is best done in "innings". Do a 15-minute session, exit to cool down and rehydrate for 5 minutes, and then return for another round. Always listen to your body and exit immediately if you feel dizzy or nauseous.
This is a matter of personal preference. Traditional saunas use heated rocks where you can add water to create steam and instantly increase the humidity. Infrared saunas are run dry without rocks or steam. You can also add essential oils to your water for aromatherapy.
Before: Yes, shower beforehand to rinse off perfumes, lotions, and oils to keep the sauna sanitary and help your skin sweat freely.
After: Yes, rinse off the sweat, salts, and toxins, and help your pores close back up.
Regular sauna use supports:
- Heart Health & Circulation: Improved vascular function and lower blood pressure.
- Muscle Recovery: Loosens stiff joints and eases muscle soreness.
- Detoxification: Flushes heavy metals (like lead, cadmium, and mercury) through heavy sweating.
- Relaxation & Sleep: Helps lower cortisol and promotes deeper, restorative sleep.
- Private Saunas: Go completely bare or wrap yourself in a cotton towel.
- Public/Gym Saunas: Swimsuits or towels are typically required by facility rules.
- Pro Tip: Avoid wearing metal jewelry as it can heat up and burn your skin, and leave electronics (phones, earbuds) outside—extreme heat damages batteries.
- Saunas cause significant fluid loss through sweating, resulting in temporary reductions in "water weight". However, it is not a replacement for regular exercise and a proper diet for burning fat.
Traditional Saunas: Heat the air in the room to high temperatures using electric or wood-burning heaters.
Infrared Saunas: Use invisible light spectrum wavelengths to heat your body directly rather than superheating the surrounding air.
- Proper ventilation is critical so you don't sit in a "suffocation box" with depleted oxygen and high CO₂ buildup. A well-designed traditional sauna has an intake vent near the floor by the heater and an exhaust vent on the opposite wall.
Sauna therapy is generally safe, but you should consult a doctor first if you have underlying cardiovascular conditions, take certain medications, or are pregnant. Never use a sauna if you have a fever, are under the influence of alcohol, or feel lightheaded.
